Returning to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to, at last, follow my bliss and pursue my photography certificate, I was immediately taken by the extent of class discussion surrounding the millions of images shared on social media every minute of every day. It was a strange reckoning realizing I had no photos from my undergraduate years in the late ‘70s. (It's worth noting that in my research I did uncover black and white photos of my parents as undergrads and plenty of images of my two children, also UW-Madison graduates.) Given I cannot rematerialize those moments in time, I set out to gather recollections in a non-sentimental, diarist format using a snapshot aesthetic and accompanying narrative to communicate the ties that bind me to this place.
