Self-Portrait - Spine
With this personal project, Finding Something You Like about Yourself, I explore the emotional underpinnings of self-esteem, strength, and worth in women of all ages by asking them what part of their body they like best. I then photograph that body part in isolation, eliminating the concern women often carry of having their entire body photographed while simultaneously overriding thoughts of what they don’t like about themselves. In pairing each portrait with an image of a plant I’ve nurtured in my own garden, I offer the beauty of Mother Earth to honor each woman.
